Customizing Chat message spacing in Teams
Microsoft Teams allows you to tailor the spacing of your Chat messages to better suit your preferences and screen size. You can adjust the Chat density to display more text at once or provide additional spacing between messages.
Display More Text in Compact Mode
By default, Teams is set to comfy mode for Chat density. However, if you want to see more text on your screen, follow these steps:
- Click on the More (…) option in the top-right corner of Teams.
- Select Settings.
- Navigate to the General section.
- Under Chat density, choose Compact.
Your Chat messages will now be more condensed, with less space between messages.
Display More Space in Comfy Mode
If you prefer more space between your messages and want to switch back to “Comfy mode”, follow the same steps and choose “Comfy” under “Chat density”.
Show or Hide Message Previews
In “Comfy” mode, message previews are displayed by default in the Chat list, while in “Compact” mode, they are hidden by default. To customize your chat list regardless of your Chat density preference, you can show or hide message previews by toggling the “Show message previews in your chat list” option in the Chat density settings.
