Snap Your Windows for Multitasking
The Snap feature helps you organize open windows by arranging them into pre-defined layouts at the edges or corners of your screen. This maximizes screen space and makes multitasking more efficient.
How to Use Snap
- Snap Flyout – Hover over the Maximize/Restore button on a window to pick a layout. Snap Assist will then prompt you to fill the remaining sections with other open windows.
- Snap Bar – Drag a window to the top of the screen and hold it until the Snap Assistant appears, allowing you to drop the window into a pre-defined layout.
- Snap to Side/Corner – Drag a window to the left or right edge to snap it to half screen, or to a corner to snap it to a quarter.
Snap Assist
When you snap a window, Snap Assist shows thumbnails of your other open windows so you can quickly complete your layout. This provides visual cues to build an organized workspace.
Snap Groups
When multiple windows are snapped together, they form a Snap Group.
- Hover over an app icon in the taskbar to restore the whole group or just that app.
- Snap Groups can also be selected via Task View and Alt + Tab.
Settings
To customize Snap:
- Open the Settings app.
- Go to System > Multitasking > Snap windows.
- Toggle Snap on/off, or expand the menu to configure additional options.
