How to Set Up and Manage Breakout Rooms in Teams Meetings

Meeting organizers using the desktop version of Teams can create and manage breakout rooms.  They can also appoint attendees to be breakout room managers.  

Here are a few things that meeting organizers and breakout room managers can do: 

  • Create up to 50 breakout rooms and automatically or manually assign people before the meeting or during the meeting. 
  • Rename breakout rooms. 
  • Set a time limit for the breakout room session. 
  • Join any of the rooms. 
  • Send an announcement to all breakout rooms.
