How to add a poll to a Teams Channel or Chat to get instant feedback
This Tech Tip guides you through setting up a poll using Microsoft Forms within Teams. A poll can be added to either a Channel or Chat (including ad-hoc Meetings).
- Go to the Channel or Chat in which you want to include a poll. At the bottom of your Teams window, select Forms.Note: If you don’t see the Forms icon, click the ellipsis to the right of your message icons to access the Messaging extensions, then select Forms.
- Add your question and answer options.
- If you want to allow multiple responses to a single question, click or tap the toggle next to Multiple selections. Use the checkboxes for your preferred sharing and privacy settings.
- Select Save.
- Preview your poll, and then click Edit if you want to make changes, or click Send if you’re ready to post it.
As people take the poll, you will see real time results in your conversation.
If you’re already in a meeting, you can still create a poll on the fly.
- Select the Show Conversation icon to display the meeting chat panel.
- Next, select the ellipsis at the bottom of the chat panel and choose Messaging extensions.
- Search for Forms in the Find an app field if you don’t see it.
- Select Forms and click the Add button. You’ll automatically be prompted to add a new poll. Add a question and response options.
- If you want to allow multiple answers, click or tap the toggle next to Multiple selections. Also select whether you want to Share aggregated results with respondents (default) and/or Record names of respondents (only visible to creator).
