How Outlook Status Affects Bookings
Outlook offers several availability settings that can be configured when creating or editing events in your calendar. Keeping your Outlook calendar updated is a useful way to communicate your availability to others.
Free/Busy status of Outlook Calendar Events
- FREE: This status does not block your availability. Use it for reminders or events you want to display on your calendar without preventing others from booking with you. It’s useful for indicating times when you are working on specific tasks but could be available if needed.
- WORKING ELSEWHERE: This status appears as “Busy” in Outlook but does not block your availability in Microsoft Bookings. It can be used to represent office hours or open time slots for specific meetings, like advising sessions.
- TENTATIVE: This status often indicates that an event is being considered or hasn’t been confirmed yet. It will block your availability in both Outlook and Bookings.
- BUSY: This indicates a scheduling conflict and shows you as unavailable. This status will block your availability in both Outlook and Bookings.
- OUT OF OFFICE: This status typically shows you’re away from work and unavailable during that time. It blocks your availability in both Outlook and Bookings.
