Presenting with PowerPoint Live and Recording in Teams
This tutorial covers how to present slides using PowerPoint Live and record your session in Microsoft Teams.
1. Start Your Teams Meeting
- Go to the Calendar tab and click Join on your scheduled meeting.

2. Set Up Video and Audio
- Turn the Camera toggle on.
- Select Background filters to adjust your background.
- Choose an audio option and click Join now.
3. Start Recording
- In the meeting controls, select More actions (…) > Record and transcribe > Start recording.
- Select a language (default is English).
- Only one person can record at a time; everyone will be notified.
4. Use Meeting Controls
- Chat – Open meeting chat.
- Raise – Raise your hand; raised hands appear next to names (numbered if multiple).
- React – Use emojis to respond.
- View – Change participant layout.
- People – View or mute participants.
- Share – Share your screen or content.
Tip: Click any control again to hide it.
5. Present Slides
- During the meeting, click Share, then select your file under PowerPoint Live.
- Not listed? Scroll down and select Browse OneDrive or Browse my computer.
- If you are in PowerPoint for the web, select Present > Present in Teams.
- If your presentation is open in PowerPoint (Windows/Mac), click Present in Teams.
Note: Only the audience view is recorded—notes, slide tools, animations, and videos are not captured.
6. Navigate Slides
- Use arrows, thumbnails, or grid view to move between slides or jump to a specific one.
- Use tools like Laser Pointer, Pen, Highlighter, or Eraser to emphasize key points.
7. Stay Engaged
- Turn Chat on/off to monitor comments.
- View raised hands and reactions in real-time.
- Zoom and pan within slides to focus attention. Press ESC to reset your screen.
8. Stop Recording
- In the meeting controls, select More actions (…) > Record and transcribe:
- Select Stop recording to end recording and transcription.
- Or choose Stop transcription to end live transcription only.
